No Endless Queues at the 5 Best Pharmacies in Melbourne
Finding the best pharmacy in Melbourne can save you a lot of stress when you’re dealing with a sudden illness or managing a long-term condition.
And for ongoing care, a good pharmacist works hand in hand with your specialists, like thyroid specialists, and keeps your prescriptions on track.
Of course, the city has plenty, but they don’t all work the same when you need fast scripts, clear advice, or a quick vaccination.
So I looked at convenient city options with practical services, helpful staff, and trading hours that suit busy locals and visitors. Here are the Melbourne pharmacies that stood out for everyday healthcare needs.
How much do pharmacy services cost in Melbourne?
Pharmacy services in Melbourne typically cost as little as $7.70 for a subsidised prescription on a concession card, up to $50 or more for private, non-subsidised medications.
| Service Type | Cost (Australian Dollars, AUD) |
| Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) subsidised prescriptions for general patients | Up to $25.00 |
| PBS subsidised prescriptions for concession cardholders | $7.70 |
| Private non-subsidised medications | $15.00 to $50.00+ |
| Private flu vaccinations | $22.95 to $29.99 |
| National Immunisation Program vaccinations | Free for high-risk groups |
1. Ramsay Pharmacy Melbourne CBD

Website:ramsaypharmacy.com.au
Address: Shop 7, East End Place, 121 Exhibition Street
Contact: 03 9650 4265 | 03 9650 6797
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Ramsay Pharmacy Melbourne CBD is a practical stop if you work nearby and want a calm, professional place to sort out regular medicines.
For starters, the team offers funded 30-minute medication checks, which help if you’re juggling several prescriptions, side effects, or inhaler routines.
They also handle blood pressure checks, asthma monitoring, flu vaccinations, and COVID-19 vaccinations. Plus, the dosage packing service is a big help for anyone who wants their weekly medication routine organised.
What I like most, though, is their focus on medication support, since it makes managing a complex routine far less stressful.
The catch is the schedule. The pharmacy closes at 5:00 PM on weekdays and stays shut on weekends, so it isn’t ideal for after-work emergencies.

Highly recommend
I had such a fantastic experience with Guy at Ramsay Pharmacy. He was incredibly attentive, took the time to really listen, and had a genuinely helpful consultation. It’s rare to feel that kind of care and patience these days. Guy went above and beyond to make sure I left feeling confident and informed. Highly recommend if you need to consult a pharmacist.

Very attentive
I visited this flagship store of Ramsay pharmacy last week. The prices of many off the shelf medicines are competitive and in some cases even lower than chemist warehouse. Staff are very attentive. They also have a wellness centre in the store.

2. Treasury Pharmacy

Website: treasurypharmacy.com.au
Address: 18 Collins St
Contact: 03 9650 7415
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Treasury Pharmacy proves that a locally owned chemist can beat a larger chain. For one, the standout service is custom medication compounding, which helps when a standard medicine format doesn’t quite suit your needs.
They also offer script holding, Webster packing, and pensioner discounts, so the service feels more personal and practical.
Plus, free delivery within the CBD is another useful perk for office workers or nearby residents.
When I spoke with their pharmacist, the chat felt straightforward and caring rather than rushed. That makes a difference when you’re asking questions about dosage or repeat scripts.
Just keep in mind, though, that the free delivery only covers the CBD. They’re also closed on weekends, so plan your visits for weekday hours.

Good experience
Amazing pharmacy. The staff are so lovely, friendly and caring. The pharmacist was warm, kind and seemed to be enjoying her job which put a smile on my face. The nurse was gentle, thorough and followed good practice. I felt safe and respected when I attended the clinic. I will be returning for any pharmacy-related needs in the future.

3. HealthSmart Pharmacy at Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC)

Website:livehealthsmart.com.au
Address: Shop 5, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Grattan Street, Parkville
Contact: 03 9349 1222
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Sunday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Complex medication needs are the speciality at HealthSmart Pharmacy inside the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC).
Being in the hospital precinct, the pharmacy is handy for patients coordinating care with their oncologists and other specialists in one trip.
Their German robotic dispensing system stands out because it’s built to improve speed and accuracy, which is reassuring when you’re collecting important prescriptions between appointments.
They also trade seven days a week, which gives them an edge over CBD stores with weekday-only schedules.
Moreover, I really appreciate that the team has long experience with compounding and travel vaccinations.
That said, the downside is the hospital setting. Peak appointment hours can mean heavier foot traffic and longer waits, and outer-suburb customers may also need to rely on next-day express post.

It’s all around convenient
Been attending this pharmacy for around 4 years now and absolutely no complaints. Everyone there is either really helpful or really polite. It’s all around convenient as they’ll talk to doctors for you, order things in fast & more.

Keep up the fantastic work!
This is one of the best Healthsmart pharmacies I’ve visited. While all Healthsmart pharmacies offer the same services and medicines, the level of customer service, warmth, and assistance can vary greatly. This location truly stands out for its exceptional care. Keep up the fantastic work!

4. Terry White Chemmart Melbourne Central

Website: melbournecentralpharmacy.com.au
Address: Shop 152, 211 La Trobe St
Contact: 03 9650 8850
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Terry White Chemmart Melbourne Central is one of the easiest options to work into a normal city day. After all, it sits right inside a major shopping and transport hub, so you can pick up scripts while commuting, running errands, or heading home from work.
The pharmacy also sits near a medical centre, which is handy when you need a doctor and pharmacist close together.
Service-wise, they offer support for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs), smoking cessation, and general health advice.
I’m also a fan of their corporate health check service, which I tried and found smooth and efficient.
On top of that, the seven-day schedule is a major advantage over weekday-only pharmacies.
That said, that central location can also be a trade-off. Melbourne Central gets crowded during peak hours, so quick medicine runs and parking may still feel hectic.

A very very happy customer!
A very very happy customer! Ron is a superstar! I was in and out very quickly and saw him deal not only with me in an extremely polite and friendly way but multiple people. He even handled the very annoying ones very graciously. Loved it and I will always go back to this pharmacy now!

The customer service is great!
Team is very professional, know their stuff and the customer service is great! Have gone out of their way to help me on many occasions. I think any of the negative reviews on here are from people getting this confused with the other pharmacy in Melbourne Central. This is the one next to the Fossil store and it’s great.

5. Victoria Market Pharmacy

Website:victoriamarketpharmacy.com
Address: 523 Elizabeth St
Contact: 03 9329 7703
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; Sunday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Familiar, relationship-based service is the draw at Victoria Market Pharmacy. After all, they’ve been part of the market area for decades.
That local history shows in the way the team focuses on practical, personalised advice rather than a rushed chain-store feel.
I like that the whole setup feels straightforward and community-minded, especially for residents who prefer a traditional neighbourhood chemist.
Beyond that, they’re handy when you need something less common. Staff can place custom product orders if a specific item or medication isn’t already on the shelf.
The primary drawback is that their trading hours are shorter than those of the larger city pharmacies. They close at 3:00 PM on Sundays and don’t stay open late, so time your visits accordingly.

Good shopping experience
They’re the only ones out of other pharmacies I called that have needles for syringes. The Italian female pharmacist is nice and served me in a good and friendly way. By the way, what is the point of selling syringes with no needles? Almost like selling coffee without a cup.
