Finding the Best Pilates Studios in Melbourne for Your Goals

Instructor Pedigree: We prioritized locations employing highly certified instructors or physiotherapists. These professionals possess deep knowledge of human anatomy and proper structural alignment.

Equipment Standard: We looked closely at the gear available in every room. Preference was given to facilities using premium reformers alongside apparatus like Wunda chairs and Cadillac tables.

Class Diversity and Levels: A good practice space caters to absolute beginners and advanced athletes alike. We evaluated programs based on their clear, level-based movement progressions.

Atmosphere and Facilities: Your workout environment deeply impacts how you feel during the session. We selected venues offering clean, high-design interiors and thoughtful extras like dedicated recovery zones.

Fitting a workout into a busy week often feels like a complicated puzzle. Between long office hours and running around town, taking time to center your body and mind is absolutely essential.

If you’re searching for the best pilates studio in Melbourne, you have plenty of unique options to explore across the city.

Finding the right space depends entirely on how you like to move. Some people want a quick lunch-break burn, while others need gentle postpartum core restoration.

I looked across the city to find welcoming spots that fit different goals, experience levels, and schedules. Let’s dive into a few standout spaces to help you start moving.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 6:00AM–8:30PM | Friday 6:00AM–7:00PM | Saturday 7:00AM–12:30PM | Sunday 7:00AM–6:00PM

Finding a space that values mental calmness just as much as physical strength is rare. Happy Melon Studios sets itself apart by completely merging dynamic movement with dedicated mental mindfulness practices.

This holistic approach builds strength while seamlessly managing daily stress. I visited their interconnected sister facility recently, and the expanded class selection made fitting a workout into my hectic schedule incredibly easy.

You’ll get access to comprehensive recovery facilities right next to the training spaces, including an infrared sauna, an ice plunge, and specialized compression gear.

Beyond the physical equipment, every membership tier includes unlimited access to both in-studio and on-demand meditation sessions.

While the environment feels incredibly supportive, the weekly direct-debit memberships do require a multi-week contract commitment. This might limit your flexibility if you just want to drop in casually.

Pros

  • Highly economical one-month dual-studio introductory package
  • Free high-quality mats and hand towels are provided to everyone
  • Substantial percentage-based discounts available for eligible students
  • Over a hundred diverse weekly exercise and recovery sessions

Cons

  • Strict multi-week contract required for weekly memberships

Favorite studio: awesome instructors, perfect vibe.

My favourite studio ever! Fantastic pilates classes. I just love everything about it. Awesome instructors, perfect vibe, the studio itself – classes always feels like a treat. Great personal approach, I’ve never felt so good and recharged after my classes there. Highly recommend it to all my friends.

Four years of fun and knowledgeable staff.

I’ve been going to Happy Melon studios for about 4 years now, time flies when you’re having fun! The staff are polite, friendly and very helpful & knowledgeable in their chosen area of fitness, be it yoga, fitness/strength or Pilates classes.

HM studio also has a good variety of classes and a good timetable throughout the week allowing me to attend the studio whilst working full time.

Address: Ground floor, 428 Little Bourke St

Contact: +61 410 404 240 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday 6:45AM–8:00PM | Friday 6:45AM–3:00PM | Saturday 8:00AM–2:00PM

Rehabilitation and careful body mechanics sit at the very core of Melbourne Yoga and Pilates. Their programs are exclusively led by university-educated Exercise Scientists and Exercise Physiologists.

They keep their group workouts exceptionally small, capping classes at just four spots to give you maximum personal attention.

This setup’s perfect for anyone managing an injury or seeking highly individualized clinical guidance, much like you would expect from a top kinesiologist

The clinic also streamlines your health coverage by providing instantaneous claim processing for people using medical insurance.

One downside is their rigid attendance policy, as members face swift booking suspensions for missing two sessions within a two-week window.

You also can’t jump straight into standard apparatus groups without passing a mandatory introductory assessment first.

Pros

  • Heavily discounted three-session private orientation trial packs
  • Free personal mat hire is included in premium unlimited memberships
  • Initial comprehensive movement screenings eligible for health rebates
  • Dedicated virtual library featuring weekly refreshed home workouts

Cons

  • Booking privileges suspended after two late cancellations
  • Mandatory 30-minute orientation assessment for new clients

Best decision for health and well-being.

I’ve been attending Melbourne Yoga and Pilates for almost two years now, and I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and well-being.  As a 58-year-old, I was starting to feel the effects of aging—stiffness, reduced mobility, and a general lack of energy.

I was at a cross road and never one for the gym. But from the moment I stepped into the studio, I felt welcomed, supported, and encouraged by the incredible instructors.

Trainer Wynter helped build muscle strength.

I love working with Wynter as my Pilates trainer at this studio. She is very experienced and able to adapt and select exercises to  fit my particular needs. I have several injuries and limitations of which Wynter is conscious, but able to find exactly the exercises which help. She is motivating and over the last three years has helped me build consistency and routine, with which I have increased my muscle strength and overall fitness.

Address: 1/206 Clarendon St

Contact: (03) 5222 1690 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00AM–4:00PM

Stepping into a vibrant, high-energy environment can completely change your workout mindset. Upstate South Melbourne motivates their visitors by ditching sterile decor in favor of bright, neon-heavy interiors that instantly uplift your mood.

They focus heavily on fast-paced, 45-minute sessions divided into distinct stylistic flows to meet different conditioning targets. I actually recommended this spot to a coworker who loves their quick, energetic formats for squeezing in a midday burn.

Standard membership plans grant you entry across all affiliated Victorian venues, offering excellent geographical flexibility. However, lower-cost partial memberships lock you into your primary purchasing facility and remove this regional access entirely.

You also need to manage your calendar carefully due to their nine-hour cancellation window, making late afternoon adjustments tricky.

Pros

  • Budget-friendly 30-day unlimited class package for new practitioners
  • Free monthly guest visitor passes on unlimited subscription contracts
  • Two late cancellation fee waivers are included every single month
  • Exceptionally quick commute access via nearby municipal transit lines

Cons

  • Long nine-hour cancellation cutoff penalizes late schedule changes
  • Basic membership options restrict attendance to a single studio

Spotless studio, welcoming staff, clear guidance.

I loved my 30-day offer at Upstate Reformer Pilates in South Melbourne. The instructors give really clear guidance, the studio is spotless, and the staff are so welcoming. Such a great place to build strength and feel motivated!

Instructor Danielle is knowledgeable and supportive.

I absolutely love the classes at Upstate Pilates! Danielle is an incredible instructor and the reason I signed up for classes at UpState— knowledgeable, supportive, and always bringing the right balance of challenge and encouragement. She takes the time to give clear cues and adjustments, so you really feel confident in your practice.

Website: aleentabarre.com

Address: St. James Square, 4/555 Bourke St

Contact: +61 1800 672 606

Hours: Monday to Friday 6:30AM–9:00PM | Saturday & Sunday 8:00AM–5:00PM

Tucked away in the Central Business District (CBD), Aleenta Health Club offers a convenient oasis for city workers craving high-efficiency movement breaks.

If you need a mini-escape without booking expensive wellness retreats, this central studio is a fantastic option.

The instructors focus on sustainable health and deliberately adapt standard choreography so people of any skill level can safely practice together. This welcoming approach removes the intense pressure often found in modern fitness spaces.

You should prepare accordingly before visiting, though, as the location completely lacks shower facilities for a quick midday clean-up.

You also have to purchase specialized grip socks to participate, as standard barefoot exercise is strictly barred for hygiene reasons.

Pros

  • Affordable seven-day introductory pass providing five trial classes
  • Unlimited free newcomer guest passes on top-tier subscriptions
  • Fortnightly direct debit plans operate without multi-month locks
  • Highly practical city transit infrastructure located directly outside

Cons

  • Total absence of bathing amenities complicates workday exercise
  • Mandatory grip sock policy requires an extra merchandise purchase

Welcoming, calm, and motivating atmosphere.

I absolutely love this Pilates studio! The atmosphere is always welcoming and calm, and all the instructors are so professional, kind, and motivating. I really appreciate the variety of classes available throughout the week and how easy it is to book or reschedule sessions through the app. It’s such a great place to stay consistent and feel good!

Fell deeply in love with Pilates here.

Came across Aleenta from my friend and got to try out Aleenta with a trial pass over class pass. Joined Lyda’s class for the first time and fell deeply in love with it and I must say I am addicted to Pilates now. You’ll probably see me almost everyday in the studio. Very cozy, professional team (tried several instructors and I love them all)

Highly recommend!

5. CorePlus North Melbourne

Website: core-plus.com/au/studios/northmelbourne

Address: 493-495 Queensberry St

Contact: +61 3 9969 7777 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday 6:00AM–8:15PM | Friday 6:00AM–6:15PM | Saturday 7:00AM–12:45PM | Sunday 8:00AM–6:00PM

Cultivating a truly inclusive training philosophy makes all the difference for beginners. CorePlus North Melbourne separates itself from intense fitness environments by focusing heavily on personal enjoyment rather than rigid metrics.

In fact, the building physically integrates into a lively urban cafe strip, creating an organic social hub for post-class community gatherings. New clients can also choose from three distinct trial avenues tailored precisely to their workout goals.

I love how you can mix up your routine here using their dual climates, which feature a heated mat space alongside a traditional room-temperature reformer setup.

While the community vibe feels great, the business imposes compounded penalties for short-notice scheduling adjustments. You also have to remember to pack extra gear, as the facility strictly enforces a full-size towel requirement for the mat room.

Pros

  • Recurring memberships allow cancellation without backend penalties
  • Clean bathing spaces and high-quality locker structures are available
  • Standard casual bundle packages remain active for a full year
  • Premium members receive full access to virtual training sessions

Cons

  • Dual financial penalties imposed for short-notice late cancellations
  • Rigid personal gear policies require users to bring large towels

Brilliant studio, best equipment, professional vibe.

This is a brilliant Pilates and Yoga studio.  The instructors are very consistent and he delivery of classes is excellent.  The equipment is the best I have used, and the overall vibe is calm, friendly and highly professional. I attend 5 + classes a week, and cant recomment Core Plus North Melbourne highly enough.

Amazing classes, supportive team, excellent customer care.

I absolutely loved my experience at CorePlus. The classes are amazing, the instructors are professional, kind and truly supportive, and the studio environment is beautiful and calming. Every session left me feeling stronger and energized.

Even after I moved away, the team was incredibly helpful and thoughtful with my situation — their customer support reflects genuine care, integrity and kindness, which is rare to find.

I highly recommend CorePlus to anyone looking for high-quality Pilates classes and a positive community. I hope to return soon! 💛
