Address: Level 5/111 Cecil St.
Contact: +61485921060
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Adults seeking dedicated care for neurodiversity will appreciate the personalised approach at Queens Road Narrm, led by Dr Joe Chen.
As an Australian-trained general adult psychiatrist, Dr Chen specialises in mental health care. He uses a thorough biopsychosocial assessment model to better understand each person’s experiences and needs.
One client we interviewed shared their experience of seeing him for an adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) evaluation. They said they appreciated how deeply he listened to their personal story.
His diagnostic process goes beyond simple checklists by combining psychological insight with medical therapy. You can also see him in person in South Melbourne or book secure online telehealth sessions.
However, his practice only caters to patients aged 16 to 65, so seniors and young children will need to seek care elsewhere.

2. Hui Psychiatry

Address: Level 1/ 62 Wellington Parade
Contact: (03) 9028 2289
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Consultation formats vary by day)
Uncovering complex neurodevelopmental traits requires patience, which is why Hui Psychiatry uses an intensive four-session assessment model.
Dr Hui conducts thorough Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) evaluations, taking time to examine how your biology and early life intersect. His structured model covers a broad range of conditions, including autism, mood disorders, and anxiety.
He even brings rich clinical experience across major Melbourne hospitals, supporting neurodivergent patients from age 12 to over 65.
Flexibility is a given here: consultations are in person at Eastbourne Professional Health Suites on Thursdays and Fridays, with telehealth available earlier in the week.
Sadly, multiple patients report slow email communication and administrative delays when requesting documentation.

I’m very happy with his care
Dr Hui was the first Psychiatrist i have seen. He put me at ease. He is very knowledgeful and the aftercare (Whilst he is busy) is very detailed. Moving his inventories to online is a great improvement for me, as i have found the paper versions difficult. He is willing to tailor your sessions to what you need rather than just what he requires. I’ve been seeing him for the last 2 years and im very happy with his care.

A psychiatrist who will treat them with care and compassion
Dr Hui is great! I was anxious about seeking a diagnosis for my neurodivergency, and he was compassionate, clear, and very helpful. He was also free from prejudice about gender/gender expression.
All around very satisfied, and would recommend to anyone seeking a psychiatrist who will treat them with care and compassion.

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Dr Christopher Walsh brings more than four decades of psychiatric practice experience. He focuses on helping adults recover from trauma and supporting neurodivergent adults, particularly those living with ADHD.

His broad professional background also includes work in public hospitals, military mental health, and community addiction services across Australia.
This diverse career helps him understand how family dynamics and workplace pressures shape your overall wellbeing.
However, some past patients found his clinical communication style a bit direct, leaving them feeling unheard during vulnerable conversations.

Hours: Monday, 8:00 AM – 12:30 AM | Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Coordinating therapy and medication is much simpler when your clinicians work as a team, and that’s the core strength of Positive Wellbeing Psychology & Psychiatry.
The clinic brings psychiatrists and registered psychologists together under one roof, making mental health support feel more connected.
They offer neurodiversity-affirming ADHD evaluations, psychological therapies, and long-term psychiatric management across Australia through telehealth or clinic visits.

But keep in mind they don’t operate as an emergency crisis facility, and changing appointments on short notice can be difficult because of their strict cancellation policies.

5. Yarra Clinic

Website: https://yarraclinic.com.au/
Address: Level 1, 493 Riversdale Road
Contact: (03) 7056 6315
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Yarra Clinic specialises in thorough diagnostic evaluations, aiming to provide a clear and accurate psychiatric assessment.
The clinic consists of seven consultant psychiatrists who bring broad expertise in areas such as addiction, eating disorders, and anxiety.
To support ongoing care, the clinic sends each comprehensive report directly to your GP within two weeks. They also provide upfront information about assessment fees and Medicare rebates, so you won’t be caught off guard by unexpected costs.
But it’s worth noting that their psychiatrists focus strictly on diagnostic assessments rather than ongoing psychotherapy. Additionally, some clients we interviewed said the sessions felt somewhat impersonal.

Provided a very detailed report following my assessment
I needed a psychiatrist to renew my GP’s authority to prescribe my ADHD medication and was able to secure an appointment within 2 weeks. My previous psychiatrist had a 6 month waitlist and cost an additional $500 more than what Yarra Clinic charged me.
My appointment with Dr Olaye went very smoothly, he was very attentive, thorough and provided a very detailed report following my assessment.
I am very happy with the service provided and would highly recommend. Thank you!

Incredibly successful and supportive experience
I had such an incredibly successful and supportive experience with Yarra Clinic. Not only was the admin staff beyond helpful and answered all my many questions, the information they sent out was clear and made me feel at ease. My appointment was done in a professional and compassionate manner. I could not be more grateful for the experience Yarra Clinic has left me with. I have since referred 3 friends and they too felt supported and celebrate throughout their experience.
