5 Best Muay Thai Gyms in Melbourne for All Levels
Most people think of Muay Thai, a form of martial arts, as just throwing kicks. But it’s really about building discipline and focus from the ground up. There is a unique connection between physical impact and mental clarity.
So, we went looking for the best Muay Thai gyms in the city that help people turn that ring-side resilience into better focus for their everyday life.
These places give you the kind of “grit” you need to survive a three-minute round and focus that tends to stick with you long after you’ve left the mats.
How much does it cost to take a Muay Thai class in Melbourne?
It costs at least $20 to take a Muay Thai class in Melbourne.
This is just an estimate. The actual cost is dependent on the membership fees, how many classes and more.
1. Dynamite Muay Thai

Address: Level 1/388 Bourke St
Contact Details: +61433568256
Operating Hours:
- Monday – 12 PM to 10 PM
- Tuesday & Wednesday – 7 AM to 10 PM
- Thursday & Friday – 7 AM to 9 PM
Dynamite Muay Thai is not the place to go for those expecting a flashy, corporate fitness center with towel service and cucumber water.
But they are a private, technically-driven sanctuary where the instructors travel to Thailand monthly to keep their skills sharp.
We love that their fight team is entirely homegrown. They don’t borrow champions for clout. They build them from scratch right here in the CBD.
Their instructors are on top of their game too and demonstrate patience with students of all levels. Students we spoke to appreciate that their trainers spend extra time with them to master form and technique.
Others we interviewed told us when they joined a beginner Muay Thai class here, they noticed the obsession with hygiene. They sanitize every mat and glove after every single session.
The only real downside is that since they are a private gym, it’s a bit on the smaller side. However, for those seeking a true Muay Thai gym Melbourne experience that prioritizes skill over aesthetics, this is the gold standard.
10/10 would 100% recommend!
“10/10 would 100% recommend! The gym provides an excellent experience through hard training, communication and support. Lily, Kru Dennis and Zia truly care about those in gym, regardless of wether or not you are doing competitions, using their knowledge to teach their skills through hard training and discipline.
Furthermore, all members are very helpful, respectful and kind, and egos are left at the door. The teamwork aspect and positive atmosphere is also great as members are willing to help out whenever possible. If you are looking for a no bs 100% real Muay Thai gym with hard training, great coaches and an excellent atmosphere than this is the gym for you. Thanks so much to all coaches, staff members and everyone at Dynamite for making it the great place it is”

the rewards is beyond what you imagine
“Dynamite is everything you’d want in a Muay Thai gym. The coaches Kru Dennis, Zia, and Lily are incredible, fully dedicating their time and effort into teaching the traditional art of Muay Thai. Their commitment has created a truly welcoming community where everyone looks after one another. Dynamite stands out as one of the only gyms where coaches and fighters support you fully from regular training, to fight camp, to when you step in the ring regardless of your skill level. The classes are high level, it’s more intense, more technical, there’s purpose and reason behind every movement. For anyone looking to better themselves, joining Dynamite will be one of the best decisions you make. It’s not an easy path but if you put in effort, the rewards is beyond what you imagine.”

Morakot Muay Thai Gym has a seven-day intro offer for $39 that allows newbies to test the waters without a heavy upfront commitment.
They have a flexible class schedule. They offer sessions seven days a week.
During our visit, the energy in the beginner Muay Thai session was infectious. The trainers answer questions and keep the mood light and fun while still being sticklers for proper footwork.
We also think it’s cool that they offer official certification as students progress through levels.
Other students we interviewed appreciate being able to compete in amateur and pro events. They said being able to test their skills in real matches helped them identify their weaknesses.
We like that students can even participate in trips to local and international Muay Thai events.
The only slight drawback is that their popularity means the evening-hour classes can get very crowded. A few told us they had a hard time securing spots in the evening classes.
Clean, tidy, well structured family friendly Muay Thai gym
“Clean, tidy, well structured family friendly Muay Thai gym. My daughter is enjoying her training every Saturday morning. The trainers are all fantastic with the kids and the ratio of trainers to kids is exceptional. Looking forward to seeing her continued growth within the sport at Morakot. :)”

gym has the greatest atmosphere and appreciation of Muay Thai!
“I have been training with Morakot for over a year now.

I had a 9 month lay off due to injury and home affairs. Not one day did I not think about Morakot, or the friends I had made and when I finally made my return it was like I never left this gym has the greatest atmosphere and appreciation of Muay Thai!”

3. Melbourne Fight Club – Martial Arts Academy

Address: 9&10/367 Flinders St
Contact Details: +61396205433
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM
- Saturday – 10 AM to 5 PM
With over 50 years of experience, Melbourne Fight Club offers a staggering 75+ classes per week, making them the most flexible option for busy professionals.
We specifically looked at their introductory process. They start everyone with a 45-minute Muay Thai personal training session. This ensures students know how to wrap their hands and stand in a proper stance before they ever join a group.
We love that this approach drastically reduces the first-day jitters that keep many people away from combat sports.
We also found their grading system to be a great motivator for those who like having a clear goal to work toward.
The facility is massive, featuring everything from cardio machines to multiple boxing rings. It’s the best choice for someone who wants a comprehensive workout that feels as professional as a high-end dance studio or an elite fitness club.
The trade-off is that it gets super crowded at times during the afternoons.
Great place to train if you are a experienced or start martial arts
“Great place to train if you are a experienced or start martial arts if you are beginner. Whether it’s be boxing, BJJ, muay thai you have great coaches like Hamza and George, they will help you and guide you to improve all the time. Best part is you have flexible timings throughout the week. I’m really enjoying my training here and hope to improve my boxing more along the journey.
Highly recommend to everyone 😄”

Thank you to Hamzah, George and John
“Fight Club is GREAT! I have attended a majority of the boxing classes, and some Muay Thai for a few weeks. All I can say is that it was one of the best experiences and choices I made in my life. Both staff and members of the community are supportive and approachable. The classes have taught me self defence and discipline, which benefited me in so many ways. Thank you to Hamzah, George and John.
I hope to attend more of their classes.”
4. The Ring Gym

Address: 83 Cranwell St, Braybrook
Contact Details: +61438797477

- Monday to Thursday – 6:30–7:30 AM, 12 to1 PM, 4 to 9 PM
- Friday – 6:30 to 7:30 AM, 12 to 1 PM
- Saturday – 10 AM to 12 PM
The Ring Gym stands out for its incredible focus on inclusivity and community culture. The gym atmosphere itself reminded us of the best Filipino restaurants with its warm, and inviting vibes.
They have created a space where students can enjoy a high-intensity Muay Thai gym workout without the intimidation factor.
Their “Women Only” sessions are particularly well-regarded. Women we interviewed love that these classes are even child-friendly, allowing mothers to train while their kids watch or participate in their Muay Thai for kids Melbourne program.
Parents we spoke with said the kids’ classes helped their children build confidence and discipline. We like that the trainers focus heavily on the Muay Thai fundamentals. Several parents told us the instructors spent thirty minutes just on balance and control.
However, we do think that their gym facilities are a bit minimalist compared to the other Muay Thai gyms we’ve been to. So, students who need fancy locker rooms and other amenities to feel motivated might not vibe here.
Highly recommend for all levels, especially fighters!
“I’ve trained at a lot of Muay Thai gyms around the world and The Ring Gym stands out as one of the best. Great attention to detail for all levels, clear progression from beginner through to advanced and then to becoming a fighter. All of the coaches are extremely knowledgable and friendly – they know what to say, how and when to say it.
Having trained Muay thai for 8+ years now, I wish I’d found this gym sooner!
Highly recommend for all levels, especially fighters!”

All the equipment is in tip top condition
“I have been training at the ring gym Muay Thai for almost 2 years and it’s the tidiest, most welcoming and friendly gym I’ve been to. All the equipment is in tip top condition and the trainers are invested in your progress from day 1. They also run a full time bjj (Brazilian jiu jitsu) and mma style grappling program with well experienced coaches that have a great teaching style. There is a lot of in depth knowledge at this gym as there is a really great OG Thai coach too. Overall I would rate this gym 10/10 and is a great fit whether you are a brand new beginner or seasoned professional you will definitely get what you’re looking for in terms of development”

Unite MuayThai Gym is where many students go when they want to feel like a fighter, even if they never plan on stepping into a ring.
We think their All Levels program is unique. It puts absolute beginners alongside seasoned pros. We love how this elevates training for students. The veterans naturally help the newcomers find their rhythm during bag work.
Their Muay Thai for kids Melbourne program, known as Juniors, focuses on building real-world confidence rather than just sports points.
The instructors are experts at taking the time to explain step-by-step the proper breathing techniques and foot stance for proper strength control.
Their women’s classes are just as empowering. We like how all body-types are welcomed and no one is treated differently.
However, for those looking for advanced Muay Thai training in Melbourne, their requirements are strict.
Students need at least six months of experience and a high level of fitness just to get in the door. This keeps the intensity of the fighter sessions at a professional level.
Highly recommend this gym to anyone
“I’ve been training at Unite for a while now and absolutely love it! Ben and the team are experienced, supportive, and really take the time to help you improve your technique.
