Seal the deal with the 5 best notary public services in Melbourne
Helping my nephew apply to colleges here has turned me into an unpaid paperwork detective. Every transcript, declaration, and consent form seems to need its own official stamp.
Finding the best notary public in Melbourne quickly moved to the top of my checklist. After all, one missing certification could send his application straight back to square one!
Thankfully, a friendly notary can make the whole process far less intimidating. With the documents properly witnessed and certified, we can focus on the acceptance letter instead of the fine print.
How much does a notary public cost in Melbourne?
Standard document notarisation in Melbourne usually costs $100 to $170 AUD per document. The final fee depends on the notary and the document’s complexity.
Some providers follow a recommended fee scale or professional guidelines. Extra documents, urgent appointments, or additional certification may increase the total cost.
1. John Pearce Solicitor & Notary Public Melbourne

Address: Level 14, 460 Lonsdale Street
Contact: 03 7049 9612
Hours: 9 AM – 5.30 PM
A towering stack of international documents can make your wallet nervous before the stamping even starts.
John Pearce Solicitor & Notary Public Melbourne keeps things more predictable by charging for appointment time rather than each document.
I also like that their estimated fees are published upfront, so there’s less chance of a nasty surprise at checkout. They can arrange DFAT Apostilles too, which saves you from chasing another office across town.
When I visited their Box Hill South office last month, the whole process moved at an impressively brisk pace. They’re open seven days a week and don’t tack on extra weekend fees, which is a small miracle in itself.
The team also clearly explains when you need a notary instead of a Justice of the Peace. That helps prevent your paperwork from taking an expensive detour.
The only snag was the occasional delay at the card terminal. It’s minor, but worth allowing an extra few minutes when paying.

2. Peter Macmillan & Associates, Solicitors & Notaries

Address: Level 1, 530 Little Collins Street
Contact: 0452 281 609
Hours: Mon – Fri: 9.30 AM – 5 PM, Sat – Sun: 10 AM – 4 PM (after-hours by appointment)
International business paperwork has a habit of becoming urgent at the worst possible moment. Peter Macmillan & Associates keeps things moving with fast, commercially focused notarial services.
The principal practitioner brings more than 30 years of legal experience across Australia and overseas jurisdictions. That depth is reassuring when corporate documents need to satisfy more than one legal system.
I also like how easy it is to fit an appointment into a packed workweek. They operate seven days a week and offer online booking, so there’s less calendar gymnastics involved.
Their team handles documents such as powers of attorney and ASIC records. This makes them a practical choice for businesses dealing with cross-border transactions or overseas filings.
The main drawback is that updates about document tracking can be rather brief. You may need to follow up if you prefer regular progress reports.

Highly professional, and works very efficiently
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best lawyer, solicitor and notary public in Melbourne CBD. Peter Macmillan is very kind, helpful, and always willing to answer all your questions. He takes the time to provide the best customer service, is highly professional, and works very efficiently. His fees are also very competitive compared to others in the market. I highly recommend his services 10/10

A reliable, professional, and efficient notary public
We recently had the pleasure of engaging Dr Peter Macmillan for notary public and Apostille certified services.
Peter’s friendly demeanour and professionalism in guiding us through the process were exceptional. He took documents to DFAT and emailed final Apostilled documents to the US for us, – very much appreciated, as the document was 30+ pages and required urgently.
Peter took the stress out of doing the final closing details on our certification.
If you’re looking for a reliable, professional, and efficient notary public, I highly recommend Peter Macmillan.

3. Notary Services Australia

Address: Level 10, 575 Bourke Street
Contact: (03) 9642 2270 / 04076 83783
Hours: Mon – Fri: 9.15 AM – 4.45 PM
Juggling personal papers and corporate documents across different offices can turn into an unnecessary scavenger hunt. Notary Services Australia keeps things simpler by handling both under one roof.
Veteran notary Philip Earle oversees services for individuals, businesses, and legal representatives. The team can manage everything from basic witnessing to embassy certification and full international legalisation.
I also like that remote witnessing is available through Zoom or Microsoft Teams. That’s especially handy when traffic, distance, or a packed schedule makes a CBD visit inconvenient.
Their office sits in Melbourne’s legal precinct with easy public transport access. It’s a practical base for anyone already handling business or legal errands nearby.
The catch is that visits are strictly by appointment, so spontaneous drop-ins won’t work. The building signage can also be easy to miss on your first visit.

Price was reasonable. Good service.
I needed notary services for a power of attorney used in the US. I called and arranged an appointment for that same day. I arrived early, and Kirsten greeted me. Phil and Kirsten reviewed the document, explained the content and then asked me to sign. The price was reasonable. Good service. Recommended.

Always very helpful and friendly
I live in Germany, and I’m applying for Italian citizenship. The embassy here rejected my translated Australian police report because it had not been bound and apostilled. So, I needed to send it back to the translator for binding and get it to DFAT for the apostille. Notary Services Australia helped me every step of the way, even organising a courier to pick up the bound document from the translator. They were always very helpful and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone living outside Australia in need of notary services.

4. Chua Tan Associates

Address: Level 2/262 Queen St
Contact: (03) 9602 3988
Hours: Mon – Fri: 9 AM – 6 PM
Sending documents to a non-English-speaking country can feel like paperwork with subtitles. Chua Tan Associates makes things easier with Chinese-English notarial certificates accepted directly in China.
The firm has handled international documentation since 1990, so it’s hardly new to the stamp-and-signature circus. Standard certificates can often be prepared within one day, which is handy when deadlines are breathing down your neck.
They can also arrange NAATI translations, overseas couriers, and other authentication steps. I found their experience with matters involving China, Malaysia, and Singapore especially useful.
The main drawback is the wait for final DFAT authentication. That extra step can add roughly two weeks to the process.

Excellent, very professional and also very reasonably priced
I’ve used the public notary services and found them to be excellent, very professional and also very reasonably priced. Located on Queen Street, I was easily able to park. I definitely recommend this place if anyone needs a public notary. I did contact a few other places and found this one to be the most reasonable, and I’m not disappointed. I was very happy with Kin’s services.

We’re very pleased
This is the second time we’ve used Kin’s public notary services, and we’re very pleased. What stood out to us was the fairness, honesty, reasonable pricing, and professionalism. We came in to get some documents notarised, and when further documents were requested, Kin remained fair and reasonable. I know many places might take these opportunities to overcharge, but this place is built on trust, honesty, and doing the right thing. Anyone needing notary services can confidently come here.

5. Notary Bayside

Address: Rear 7 Ocean Street
Contact: 1300 344 962
Hours: Daily: 8 AM – 8 PM
Living outside Melbourne’s CBD shouldn’t mean trekking across town just to get a document stamped. Notary Bayside brings international notarial services closer to the southern suburbs.
Keith E. Hoban leads the practice with more than 35 years of experience. That’s reassuring when overseas paperwork starts looking like it needs its own instruction manual.
I also like the flexibility of same-day appointments and mobile visits. Having the notary come to you can save plenty of time and traffic-related grumbling.
A local business owner praised their weekend availability and clear fee estimates. Nearby public parking makes the whole visit even less of a logistical headache.
The catch is that bookings must be made online.
Standard appointments are also limited to 30 minutes, with extra charges if your paperwork runs overtime.

Professional, responsive and experienced Notary Public
Mr Keith is a professional, responsive and experienced Notary Public who helped my company’s director complete an affidavit for an overseas company. The booking process available on their website is so easy to use, and confirmation/reminder emails were sent daily, with clear instructions.
It took less than 3 days for the process from booking to total completion! (may be faster if there are available slots!)
Highly recommended! ✅

An affordable and dependable notary public in our local area
Keith was prompt, professional and a real pleasure to deal with. Even though we were the last appointment at 7.30 pm with two kids in tow, he was really patient and even chatted with our boys. Keith is so knowledgeable and thorough, and we are happy there is an affordable and dependable notary public in our local area. Highly recommend!
